Friedrichshafen - More than 200 distributors and dealers for the mtu and Detroit Diesel brands gathered from around the world from 25 to 27 March 2002, as guests in Friedrichshafen. The occasion was the mtu worldwide Distributors' Meeting. The meeting took place for the first time this year and was held in the Graf-Zeppelin congress center and mtu's Works 1 and 2. Subsequent to DaimlerChrysler AG taking over the American engine manufacturer Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC), the concern has concentrated its Off-Highway activities in the product sector "DaimlerChrysler Powersystems Off-Highway". MTU Friedrichshafen, allied to DaimlerChrysler for over 30 years, plays the leading role within this product sector.
The participants were informed, among other things, of the company and product strategies for the DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway sector. The program included information and workshops on current themes within the sales segments marine, power-generation, rail and defense, plus industrial applications, e.g. agricultural and mining vehicles. A further part of the program was devoted to the presentation of awards to seven representatives for exceptional efforts in customer-related investments and for exceptional engine sales.
mtu reinforces links to customers: More than 1,200 representatives worldwide
The DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway company strategy depends upon stronger decentralization. "We are successfully working on the next steps of our globalization offensive. The integration of the worldwide sales and service network of the Off-Highway segment is one of our top priorities", said Chairman of mtu and Head of DaimlerChrysler Powersystems Off-Highway, Dr. Rolf A. Hanssen, during his opening speech. There should be a greater local sales and service presence in order to serve the customers as best as possible. In more than 130 countries around the world there are 150 distributors with 1,200 representatives and dealers active as contact partners for mtu customers.
