Friedrichshafen/Dubai, March 6, 2013. Under a new preferred partner agreement, the Arabian shipyard Gulf Craft will soon offer mtu Series 2000 and 4000 engines in its Majesty Yachts as its primary engine option. The agreement was signed by Gulf Craft and Al Masaood, a Tognum Group distributor for mtu engines in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, at this year’s Dubai International Boat Show. The contract will extend through 2014 and provides more than 50 engines ranging from 8, 10, 12 and 16-cylinder units of Series 2000 to 12-cylinder engines of Series 4000.

“This preferred partner agreement will allow us to strengthen our long-standing partnership and significantly expand our market share,” said Tognum Chief Sales Officer Dr. Michael Haidinger. Located close to Dubai in the emirate of Umm al-Quwain, the Gulf Craft shipyard builds luxury yachts up to 50 meters in length and customizes them to individual customer specifications. These yachts have been powered by mtu engines for more than 20 years.

“We are delighted that our long relationship has moved to this strategic level, and we look forward to offering Gulf Craft customers the best of reliability and economy in modern engineering, as well as world-wide priority service,” said Mohammed Hussain Alshaali, chairman of Gulf Craft.

Thanks to its outstanding customer support, Al Masaood has been able to achieve significant increases in turnover in its dealings with Gulf Craft over recent years. “Al Masaood is committed to meet the satisfaction of Gulf Craft and its clients by providing the quality and responsive services and support,” said Abdulla Al Masaood, chairman of Al Masaood. Today, 20% of Gulf Craft customers come from Europe, 40% from the Gulf region and 25% are from Asia.

At Stand EX-60 at the Dubai International Boat Show from March 5 to 10, mtu and Al Masaood will showcase the current Series 2000 and 4000 yacht engines covering the power range up to 4,300 kW.
