FRIEDRICHSHAFEN/BERLIN, GERMANY – The Rolls-Royce brand mtu will be exhibiting its drive and service solutions at the international trade show for railway technology Innotrans from 23 to 26 September in Berlin in Hall 18, Booth 301. The company will be celebrating an anniversary on this occasion: Products from mtu have been driving trains for 90 years. The mtu brand is part of the Rolls-Royce Power Systems business within the MIPS division of Rolls-Royce plc. The exhibits include a historical Maybach GO 5 engine as well as current drive solutions such as an underfloor engine from the Series 1600 and a locomotive engine from the Series 4000. Automation solutions and services complete the mtu product range at Innotrans.

90 years ago, Karl Maybach laid the foundation for rail drives of the mtu brand with the first high-speed railcar diesel engine in the world, the Maybach G 4a. At Innotrans, mtu will be exhibiting the GO 5 engine which Maybach developed for the express train “Fliegender Hamburger.”

Since 1924, mtu and its predecessor companies have supplied more than 20,000 railroad drive systems. The company still leads the way today when it comes to innovative and reliable rail drives. For railcars, mtu offers the compact underfloor engine systems "PowerPack.” At Innotrans, mtu will be showcasing a PowerPack based on a Series 1600 engine which will drive the future high-speed trains of the British Intercity Express Programme (IEP).

For locomotives, mtu offers Series 1600 and Series 4000 engines. The most powerful locomotive engines from mtu are those of Series 4000. They cover a power range from 850 to 3,300 kW in different emission stages. At the mtu booth, visitors can view a 16V 4000 R84 engine with an output of 2,400 kW.
To permit simple integration of the drive systems, mtu’s engine portfolio is supplemented by the automation system Powerline and the modern starting system CaPoS (Capacitor Power System).

The extensive services of "mtu ValueCare" round off the product range. These include customized maintenance contracts, extended coverage, rapid supply of spare parts, consumables such as engine coolants, engine oil and filters and also remanufactured engines and parts. A Reman engine from Series 4000 will be exhibited at the mtu booth.
