VM Motori is to join its distribution activities with DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway in the future.
Friedrichshafen/Cento - VM Motori is to join its distribution activities with DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway in the future. Effective immediately, the Off-Highway products of the Italian diesel engine manufacturer VM Motori S.p.A. are to be made available to the DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway sales organization, covering MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH, the Off-Highway segment of Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) and the Off-Highway segment of the Commercial Vehicles Division of DaimlerChrysler AG, 15 subsidiaries, 150 distributors and 1000 authorized dealers worldwide.

A corresponding agreement was signed in October 2003 by Peter Grosch, Head of Sales of DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway as well as Vice President Sales of MTU Friedrichshafen, and Vilmo Ferioli, CEO of VM Motori. In addition to the worldwide distribution of VM engines, DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway will offer worldwide service and global availability of spare parts. In this context, VM Motori will support the DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway Organization through technical and market expertise for VM products.

DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway already supplies the 75 to 9,000 kW (100 to 12,000 HP) power range with its own mtu- and Detroit Diesel- brand engines. The present agreement will round up the product spectrum in the lower power range with the immediate addition of VM engines in model series D700, HR and SUN; 2-, 3-, 4- and 6-cylinder engines with an output of 20 - 220 kW (30 to 300 HP). The VM engines have a modular construction and can be equipped with different fuel-injection systems to meet specific market demands with respect to exhaust emission regulations, consumption, ease of service, etc. The VM Motori generators and pump sets will also be fully integrated into the product range of DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway.

According to Peter Grosch, the agreement with VM Motori is an important step to becoming a full-line provider: "The technical design of VM Motori's engines complement very well our design philosophy and product range. This attractive addition to our product spectrum in the lower power ranges will open up significant new business potential in the various areas of application, and particularly in the sales & marketing activities through our worldwide distribution organization."

For VM Motori, the cooperation with DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway will mean a significant expansion of the sales market. "So far, our company has been primarily active on the West European market in the Off-Highway sector", said Vilmo Ferioli. "The engine distribution through the DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway Organization will provide us with a global marketing platform. Thus, VM Off-Highway products will also benefit from the recognized service quality of the DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway Organization."
