Friedrichshafen, 20 February 2008. As of March 1, 2008, Dr. Heike Hanagarth will be the new Head of Tognum’s Rotorion business unit, which is part of MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH. Hanagarth has been appointed from within the Tognum Group; until now she has been responsible for the worldwide establishment and development of quality and risk management at Group headquarters. At Rotorion, she will replace Fridolin Ebert, who is due to retire for age reasons.

Hanagarth was born in 1959, is married, and has a son. After studying mechanical engineering in Karlsruhe, she started her career in 1988 as assistant to the management of the Mannheim commercial vehicles engine plant of Daimler AG. In 1998, she moved to MTU Friedrichshafen at Lake Constance as head of engine and main component assembly. In that position, she was put in charge of reorganizing the company’s entire production process comprising assembly, test benches and paint shop with 500 employees. Hanagarth’s focus was on implementing new quality standards as well as reducing throughput times and costs. In the year 2005, Hanagarth took over the worldwide quality management of engine and propeller shaft production. And in 2007, within the framework of corporate reorganization and the initial public offering, she was given responsibility for the worldwide establishment and development of the Tognum Group’s quality and risk management.

Upon the appointment of Heike Hanagarth as Head of Rotorion, the Tognum Board of Management member responsible for Rotorion, Christof von Branconi, stated, “Due to her many years as a competent and successful executive with great experience in terms of both operations and strategy, Dr. Hanagarth is the ideal person to achieve all of Rotorion’s targets. She has all the required qualities to implement the planned separation of our drive shaft business operations into an independent company under the name of Rotorion, which will take effect on July 1, 2008. The separation of these business activities into an independent limited company is necessary on the one hand to better fulfill the varying customer demands of the automobile manufacturers. On the other hand, through its independence as a separate company, Rotorion will be more open for the possibility of strategic cooperation with external partners in the future.”
