With over 100 participants from Friedrichshafen, the Rolls-Royce Power Systems division stood up for diversity and for equal rights, acceptance and tolerance of homosexuals, bisexuals, transsexuals and transgenders at the “Christopher Street Day” Pride event held in Stuttgart on Saturday, July 27. With around 200,000 visitors, the CSD event in Stuttgart is one of the largest in Germany.
CEO Andreas Schell and HR Director Alexandra Kuebler were on board the colorfully decorated Rolls-Royce float with its motto “Be yourself – the power of diversity”.
“By participating in CSD, we are making it clear that everyone in our company can be themselves, and that we actively promote diversity,” said Schell. “Diversity is a key foundation for the future success of our company, so I'm really pleased so many of our people came along today,” he continued. While the majority of participants were large companies from the greater Stuttgart area, Rolls-Royce – a company from the deep south of the state – was something of a novelty.
“In order for every employee to be able to grow freely, and for us to attract new talent, we need a corporate culture that is open to everyone irrespective of their origin, gender or attitude,” explained HR Manager Alexandra Kuebler, saying, “Diversity is a benefit we value and want to encourage even more.”
