The current production Series 2000 M96L builds upon more than 20 years of experience servicing the sportfishing market. Our original Series 2000 PLD engines (later available in 8V, 12V and 16V variations) are still going strong today, with individual engines clocking up thousands of operating hours. This legacy is reflected in the M96L, which is both EPA Tier 3 Recreational and IMO Tier II certified and boasts a third generation Common Rail fuel delivery system. It is available in 10V, 12V & 16V variants and delivers performance from 1360 - 2600 bhp.
Our engines have always set the standard when it comes to engine design and performance, and our latest sportfishing boat engines are no exception. Designed from the ground up specifically for marine applications, these engines feature an intelligent, efficient design that allows us to achieve an unprecedented power-to-weight ratio, placing them in a power class of their own and delivering outstanding acceleration characteristics.
But power is not the only advantage provided by MTU engines for sportfishing. Patented improvements to the common rail fuel system, sequential turbocharging and our ADEC electronic control system have allowed us to achieve this higher output with lower fuel consumption and fewer emissions.
