Key Benefits of the mtu PowerPack Xelerate
Hybrid Power Meets Proven Engine Technology
At the heart of the mtu PowerPack Xelerate is a newly developed 10-cylinder mtu Series 199 engine. Delivering approximately 1,100 kW of mechanical power, it provides the core energy for the hybrid propulsion system.
Designed for military applications, the engine features high robustness, multi-fuel capability and optimized performance under dynamic load conditions. Its advanced combustion system ensures efficiency and reliability in demanding environments. For the first time, this combat vehicle engine operates within a parallel hybrid system for heavy tracked vehicles, enabling seamless interaction between mechanical and electrical power.
Advanced Hybrid Drive System for Tracked Vehicles
The mtu PowerPack Xelerate integrates an electrified powershift steering transmission, enabling continuous steering control and improved energy management. The hybrid system allows for energy recuperation and boost functionality, increasing both performance and efficiency.
A hybrid cooling system further enhances thermal management and supports the integration of high-power electrical components. This innovative hybrid drive system is designed to meet the evolving requirements of future combat vehicles, including higher energy demand and increased operational flexibility.
Designed for the Main Ground Combat System (MGCS)
The Main Ground Combat System (MGCS) is a joint European initiative to develop a next-generation combat vehicle, replacing existing main battle tanks. The platform is designed to deliver enhanced mobility, survivability and digital integration.
The mtu PowerPack Xelerate provides the propulsion backbone for this advanced system, enabling higher performance and supporting the increasing energy demands of modern military operations.
