New Board Member for Technology at Tognum

• Dr. Gerd-Michael Wolters to retire
• Dr. Ulrich Dohle from Bosch to take over as of 1st April

Friedrichshafen, 14 January 2009. The Supervisory Board of Tognum, the specialist for propulsion and power solutions, has appointed Dr. Ulrich Dohle as a new Board Member for the Segment Technology & Operations as of 1st April 2009. Dr. Dohle (55) will succeed Dr. Gerd-Michael Wolters (63), who will retire at the end of June 2009 after almost 30 years with the company.

Dr. Dohle, married and father of two children, completed an engineering program (combustion engines) at RWTH in Aix-la-Chappelle (Germany) and gained a doctoral degree in heat engineering. He will join Tognum following a career of 25 years with Stuttgart-based Robert Bosch GmbH. Dohle worked for Bosch in a variety of positions, both in Development and Manufacturing, among which nine years in the US and the UK. Dr. Dohle’s last assignment was the position of President for Bosch’s largest business segment “Diesel Systems”.

Dr. Wolters has been with the company since 1979 and has been heading the Technology Segment within the Management Board since 1992. During the 90s, he was the one to introduce technological changes in the company’s product portfolio, leading to a shift from government business (engines for the defense industry) to commercial applications, as well as the cost-optimized restructurization of all production processes. All of this based on the previously developed engine series 2000 and 4000, which are now the main pillars of the company’s engine manufacturing volume, which has increased nearly fivefold over the last few years. He still is chairman of the research association for combustion engines within the VDMA.

The company would like to thank Dr. Wolters for many years of hard work for the corporation: he made a substantial contribution to the highly successful corporate development and shaped ground-breaking technological innovations in the field of combustion engines.
