Round-the-clock channels: Spanish public broadcaster RTVE (Corporación de Radio y Televisión Española) has opted to rely on two emergency gensets carrying the mtu Onsite Energy brand to ensure no disruptions to delivery of either picture or sound. In the event of a power outage, the 16V 2000 diesel gensets come on stream, each delivering 1,250 kVA power. They have also been configured so the broadcaster can deploy them at any time and over a longer period as a main source of power for its TV and radio services. They were being supplied and installed by MTU Iberica.

With seven TV and six radio channels, RTVE is Spain's largest public broadcaster. It also maintains a radio orchestra and provides various online offerings. Over the last two years, it has extensively modernized its studios at its headquarters on Prado del Rey in Madrid. “Because it's a basic service provider, RTVE imposes very strict regulations regarding power supply to ensure it can keep its radio and TV broadcasts on air. Generator sets from mtu Onsite Energy tick all the boxes here, because they are just so reliable and able to come on stream in an instant,” emphasized Carolina Díaz and Pablo Fernández from MTU Iberica.
