Technical Features at a Glance

Power Unit

Power Units are functional entities comprising all components of a cylinder. They are secured to the crankcase by four studs each.

Benefits: High ignition pressures possible. Optimized for: Low fuel consumption. Easy to service as complete unit can be replaced (on board).

Starting (air) system

The starting sequence of the air starter is initiated by engaging the starter pinion in the starter ring gear and subsequently cranking the crankshaft.

Benefits:  No permanent prelubrication is required. Automatic starting sequence with included slow turning sequence to detect hydrolock.

Lubrication oil system

The lube oil system on the engine includes an attached lube oil pump, a lube oil cooler and a lube oil duplex filter, with oil priming before engine start. Automatic oil replenishment and a deep oil pan are available for high inclinations.

Benefits:  Low Lube oil consumption: 0,25 % of fuel consumption. Low heat radiation at full load @ 120 kW (impact on HVAC design). Reduced maintenance.

Fuel system

The Common Rail fuel injection system features electronically activated injectors, double-walled HP lines, leakage monitoring for the HP pump and is HVO approved.

Benefits:   Optimized fuel consumption. Significant reduction of black smoke and noise emission especially at low engine speeds. Leakage monitoring.

Cooling system

The split cooling system consists of a sea water (raw) system and an engine coolant system, with coolant preheating prior to start and an engine-mounted raw water and coolant pump.

Benefits:  No corrosion. Gearbox can be cooled. Low engine heat dissipation.

Charge air and exhaust system

The system incorporates electronically controlled sequential turbocharging, crankcase ventilation via air intake, controlled condensate draining and an intake air silencer.

Benefits:  High cylinder output due to high charge-air pressures. High engine torque at low speeds. Improved acceleration behavior.

Mounting system

There are different mounting types available (standard & shock) for the reduction of vibration and noise.

Great know-how and experience in vibration analysis and mounting system design. Customized solutions for high acoustic demands and shock requirements.

Power transmission

In the realm of power transmission, there are different coupling types available, including an engine-mounted steel spring coupling for dampening torsional vibration and an additional misalignment coupling, often tailored to project requirements.

Benefits:   Know-how and experience in Analytic. High misalignment capability couplings for shock application. Lightweight and compact design.

Engine control system

The engine management system comprises the following components and is installed and protected by an impact protection plate on engine free end (KGS): Interface module EIM. Engine Control Unit ECU. Engine Monitoring Unit EMU.

Engine monitoring and protection. Governor components are designed and manufactured in Rolls-Royce in Germany. Obsolescence management & decades of support.
