Tognum receives Major Order from India to supply Diesel Engines for Powergen System

Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen has won a major order worth €10 million from the Indian power generation system manufacturer Sterling Generators. The contract includes more than 100 Series 2000 and 4000 diesel engines, which deliver up to 2500 kVA. The order also comes with an option for the delivery of 30 to 40 additional engines in 2008 including Series 4000 engines up to 3000 kVA.

Friedrichshafen, 26 February 2008. Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen has won a major order worth €10 million from the Indian power generation system manufacturer Sterling Generators. The contract includes more than 100 Series 2000 and 4000 diesel engines, which deliver up to 2500 kVA. The order also comes with an option for the delivery of 30 to 40 additional engines in 2008 including Series 4000 engines up to 3000 kVA.
Sterling Generator is a manufacturer of diesel-powered premium-quality power generation systems. mtu and Sterling Generator have been cooperating as strategic partners since 2005 and cater for the growing Indian power generation systems market. The market share of Sterling systems with mtu engines has seen a steady increase ever since. Final customers for the power generation plants include banks, electric power stations, IT companies and hospitals, which depend on 100% reliable emergency power supply. Tognum President & CEO Volker Heuer commented on the order: “We will continue to grow in Asia, as scheduled, and plan to double our revenue from €400 to €800 million over the next five years.”
