A Legacy of Excellence

The craftsmanship of Detroit Diesel 2-Cycle engines is a reflection of our strong heritage in the diesel engine business. Our two ancestral companies – MTU Friedrichshafen in Germany and Detroit Diesel Corporation in the United States – are long-time dominant forces in diesel engine innovation and manufacturing.  Four engines make up this "Classic" series of Detroit Diesel 2-Cycle engines:

  • Series 53
  • Series 71
  • Series 92
  • Series 149

These engines have a long history that dates back to the late 1930s, when the company was founded by General Motors as GM Diesel. Since then, they have powered entire industries, including construction, agricultural, marine, oil and gas, mining, rail, power generation and defense. Although now only offered new for military applications, we provide genuine parts – both new and remanufactured -- and expert service support for these legacy engines.

Remanufactured Parts

When you purchase a reliabilt® remanufactured component, you are assured of a predictable service life with original manufacturer quality at a great value. Parts are readily  available, which reduces downtime and cuts indirect service costs such as storage. We provide original manufacturer quality at a great value. Pricing for reliabilt® remanufactured parts is typically 20 to 40 percent lower than for new parts. And all genuine Detroit Diesel 2-Cycle parts carry a one-year, unlimited miles/hours warranty.  From cylinder kits and liners to pistons and long blocks, a full range of genuine Detroit Diesel 2-Cycle parts is available, including:

  • Water Pumps
  • Cylinder Heads
  • Starters & Alternators
  • Crankshafts
  • Blowers Main & Rod Bearings
  • And many more, all available through  your local distributor
  • Injectors
  • Fuel Pumps
  • Connecting Rods
  • Turbochargers
