  • Commitment to Friedrichshafen location; support for youth projects at the forefront

Friedrichshafen, 15 November 2010. The 8th mtu Indoor Cup competition will be taking place on December, 11 and 12, in Friedrichshafen. As in the past, 16 European youth teams from top clubs such as FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Sparta Prague, and eight regional teams will be competing for the trophy. The youth football competition is organized by VfB Friedrichshafen’s football section and, as in previous years, its main sponsor is the Tognum Group with its mtu, mtu Onsite Energy and L’Orange brands.
“We support the youth football competition as a clear expression of our commitment to our main location in Friedrichshafen and to the Lake Constance region. We also intend our sponsorship to underline the emphasis we place on encouraging these young people to pursue their chosen aims with passion, tenacity and professionalism as well as a healthy appreciation of team spirit. These are among the elements that have assured our success as a corporate group for decades now,” said Volker Heuer, Chairman of the Executive Board of Tognum AG.
Along with its sponsorship of the mtu Indoor Cup, Tognum also supports VfB Friedrichshafen’s `Leistungszentrum´, a center of sporting excellence which offers gifted young footballers from local clubs the chance of additional coaching with a UEFA A-licensed trainer. Around 50 young people aged between 9 and 15 are involved. The benefit gained from these additional training sessions was clearly recognizable in the results of last year’s mtu Indoor Cup.
This year’s mtu Indoor Cup takes place in the second week of December in the `Bodenseestadion´ in Friedrichshafen. The preliminary rounds will be played on the Saturday from 08:30h to 19:00h and the final rounds will take place from 08:30h to 16:00h on the Sunday. Entry is free for spectators up to the age of 18.
