mtu Onsite Energy providing the power at Karpfham folk festival

• Five gensets deliver a total of 2.5MW for keeping tents, funfair rides, beer gardens and open-air bars up running at the Haslinger park
• 24-h service provided by mtu Onsite Energy Systems GmbH (formerly Aggretech AG)

Ruhstorf, August 31, 2012. Gensets from Tognum subsidiary mtu Onsite Energy Systems GmbH are providing the power at Bavaria’s Karpfham folk festival. Responsible for keeping the lights glowing and the music flowing at the funfair, and in the tents, beer-gardens and open-air bars set up by operator Haslinger are five gensets with a total power output of 2.5MW. Haslinger decided to rent the mtu Onsite Energy gensets for round-the-clock service, since the additional electrical power needed during the festival could not be covered by the local grid. According to figures provided by the spa town of Bad Griesbach, the Karpfham folk festival is Bavaria’s third-largest ‘fest’, and last year attracted over 500,000 visitors. This year, it began on August 30 and will end on September 4.

The gensets from mtu Onsite Energy Systems in service at the Karpfham festival are based on mtu Series 1600 engines and are housed in what are called ‘power containers’. The sound-damped containers ensure that enjoyment of the festival music is not diminished by engine noise.  

Aggretech AG was the predecessor to mtu Onsite Energy Systems GmbH and was renamed in June of this year after Tognum, now its parent company, secured over 75% of Aggretech shares in April.
