Friedrichshafen/Berlin, September 18, 2012. From September 18 to 21, 2012, Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH will be showcasing its drive and systems solutions for railcars and locomotives at the international Innotrans rail exhibition in Berlin (Hall 20, Stand 303). The company’s program includes its compact Powerpack underfloor drives (315 to 660kW, 420 to 885bhp) for railcars and multi-purpose vehicles (MPV). Currently undergoing trials is a hybrid Powerpack with regenerative braking for railcars. The Series 642 diesel-mechanical powercar which was first converted to hybrid technology for use on local passenger services in a pilot project involving Deutsche Bahn and MTU Friedrichshafen, will make its public debut at the exhibition (open-air showground G1/30).

For locomotives, mtu will be showcasing its current Series 4000 units which are available in 8, 12, 16 and 20-cylinder configurations generating between 1,000 and 2,700kW (1,340 to 3,620bhp) and using exhaust gas recirculation and diesel particulate filters to achieve EU Stage IIIB emission targets. In addition, the company will be showing its Powerline automation system. The comprehensive mtu ValueCare service program offering custom-tailored maintenance contracts, original-brand spare parts and consumables such as coolants, engine oils and filters will round off the product portfolio.
