Friedrichshafen, September 10, 2012. On October 6, sport will rule at Tognum, the specialist for propulsion and power solutions. The star guests at the FUNSports³ event to be held at the Sports Center in Immenstaad will be the well-known heptathlete Jennifer Oeser and runner Richard Ringer. Joint partners in the undertaking are Cassidian/Astrium and the Ravensburg branch of Mercedes-Benz. Competitions will be open to employees from all three companies as well as their families, and guests will also be able to enter the running events. Alongside the active participants, Tognum and its partners will of course look forward to seeing as many spectators as possible.
The ‘3’ in the title of the event refers to the three sporting disciplines involved running, football and climbing and to the three joint partners. Whilst the football and climbing competitions are limited to employees from the three companies, the two running events (30km and 12km) are open to all comers. The longer run starts out in Ravensburg and takes competitors through Oberteuringen and on to Immenstaad on Lake Constance. The shorter route covers the last 12 kilometers of the longer run and is also open to Nordic walkers. Further information is available at www.funsports.tognum.com where aspiring participants can also register until September 22 to take part in the events.
FUNSports³ is an important element in Tognum’s integrated concept of health management. The company will be using the opportunity to provide information on its program for sport and health and will be offering diagnostic performance and lactate measurement tests. Visitors will also be able to put their reactions in hazardous situations to the test in a driving safety simulator. mtu’s company health insurance organization will likewise be providing advice on cancer prevention and mental health as well as offering mini-massages. The BKK Gildemeister health insurance organization will be running a stand offering visitors isotonic drinks and fruit. Entertainment will be provided by Captain Bluebear from the Ravensburger Spieleland theme park, an XXL table football game and a golf speed simulator. And to round off the program, the Immenstaad Sports Association will be organizing a buffet with snacks and drinks while DJ Red provides the music.
Heptathlete Jennifer Oeser from Leverkusen had to drop out of the London Olympics with calf and Achilles tendon problems in the final 800-meter event. Previously, at the World Championships in Berlin in 2009, the 29-year-old took silver. Oeser will present the awards to the winners of the football competition and will also be available to sign autographs and chat to fans.
23-year-old middle and long distance runner Richard Ringer has very close ties with Tognum where he has spent the last three years as a student trainee. In 2011, Ringer became German champion over 5,000 meters. He took seventh place at the European Under-23 Championships and narrowly missed a bronze at the European Cross Country Championships, taking fourth place. Ringer will be taking part in the run from Oberteuringen to Immenstaad and will also be available to answer visitors’ questions.
