FRIEDRICHSHAFEN – Rolls-Royce is presenting mtu propulsion systems and automation products for megayachts at the Yacht Show in Monaco from 23 to 26 September 2015. On show on Stand QC9 on the Quai Chicane there will be a model of an mtu Type 20V 4000 M93 engine combined with an electric motor in a hybrid configuration. Visitors will be shown a variety of drive modes from silent mode through to boost mode (top speed). The mtu brand is part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems within the Land & Sea division of Rolls-Royce.

mtu supplies propulsion systems and complete system engineering solutions for megayachts from a single source, the interfaces of which have been engineered to deliver optimum performance. The individually designed mtu drive systems are based on the powerful and low-emission Series 2000, 4000, 1163 and 8000 diesel engines with power outputs right up to 10,000 kW. In addition to diesel-mechanical and diesel-electric propulsion systems, mtu will be presenting bespoke E-Drive system solutions incorporating diesel engines and electric motors, energy storage batteries, power electronics, control systems and gearboxes. "For yacht owners, that means more economy and comfort due to lower fuel consumption, less noise and reduced vibration," explains Nadine Buhmann, Head of Marine and Offshore Business at mtu. The mtu active noise reduction solutions for vessels will also be on show in Monaco.

As a full system supplier, mtu offers all the components required for the monitoring and remote control of the propulsion systems. In the case of combined propulsion systems and E-Drive systems in particular, the monitoring and control of the individual operating modes can be a considerable challenge. This is an area in which mtu can draw on in-depth expertise and many years of experience, enabling the company to assist clients by providing them with optimum advice and professional support as needed.

The mtu Premium Yacht Service is a perfect fit for the demands of discerning clients. The service and support package includes all mtu ValueCare products and can be precisely tailored to the individual client's wishes. mtu thus offers clients in the luxury yacht sector an expanded global support service for the full life of the engine. World-wide, all owners of yachts with mtu engines can benefit from the new extended warranty of up to eleven years and individually customisable maintenance contracts. The Customer Assistance Centre guarantees rapid availability anywhere in the world – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Visitors to the show can find out all about the numerous specially co-ordinated customer service and support options.

Some of the megayachts on view at the Yacht Show in Monaco are fitted out with mtu engines, among them the 60-metre "FB255 M/Y Formosa" (two x mtu 12V 4000 M53 engines) by Benetti, the 50-metre M/Y "Ann G" (twin mtu 16V 4000 units) made by Heesen, and   the 42-metre "Serenity" from Mondomarine (two mtu 12V 2000 M72 engines) being unveiled by Benetti for the first time.
