Friedrichshafen, 29 November 2007. Today, the Tognum company MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH is holding its second Rail Symposium. Approximately 120 rail experts from all over the world are attending the conference in Friedrichshafen. The participants include personnel from manufacturers of rail vehicles and train operators, related associations and public authorities, and suppliers of MTU Friedrichshafen.

The Rail Symposium is being held as an international discussion platform in three languages: German, English and French. The main issues being dealt with are future emission legislation, mtu-specific propulsion solutions for railcars and locomotives, and rail-specific mtu services. The conference aims to develop future rail-drive solutions with diesel engines in close cooperation with a broad network of experts. In this way, as a supplier of drive solutions, MTU Friedrichshafen profits from the expertise available in the rail sector and can optimally adapt its developments to the requirements of the industry and relevant legislation. In return, the participants in the symposium will gain the latest information on the propulsion technologies of MTU Friedrichshafen.

Due to the thoroughly positive response to the Rail Symposium held in 2005, the conference will now be held every two years, alternating with the InnoTrans rail trade fair.
