Friedrichshafen, November 5, 2013. Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen will be presenting its range of products for commercial marine applications at the Europort Maritime Exhibition in Rotterdam (Hall 1, Stand 1425) from 5. to 8. November. In its role as a systems partner, mtu supplies complete propulsion packages incorporating mtu engines as well as partial systems such as couplings, gearboxes, on-board power gensets and integrated ship automation systems. The company´s portfolio is rounded off by a program of customer-specific service solutions.

Among other things, the mtu stand will have a 16-cylinder Series 4000 `Ironmen´ workboat engine on display. Available as 8, 12 and 16-cylinder units, Ironmen engines cover the power range from 746 kW to 2,240 kW. As a rule, they are used wherever there is a need for particular reliability coupled with long service life, high availability and low operating costs – such as in the tugboat and inland waterways sector. mtu also supplies diesel gensets producing between 760 kW and 3,015 kW for diesel-electric propulsion on offshore supply vessels and for on-board power.

At Europort, mtu will also be showcasing its Series 2000 engines for commercial shipping. Available as 8, 10, 12 and 16-cylinder units, these engines output between 400 kW and 1,630 kW. As well as offering a very high power-to-weight ratio, these engines are particularly reliable, service-friendly and compact   –   all vital features which enable inland waterways vessels and high-speed wind-farm tenders to operate efficiently and to save on fuel.

In the ship automation area, mtu´s Blue Vision New Generation satisfies the demands made by customers as well as classification societies. An in-house mtu development, this automation system focuses on specialized components which can be combined with high-quality standard products to deliver modular and scalable solutions. On workboats powered by mtu Series 2000 or 4000 plants, the various versions of Blue Vision New Generation (`Basic´, `Advanced´ and `Premium´) are the successors to the company´s current Smartline, Blueline and Bluevision products.

The range of products is complemented by mtu´s comprehensive ValueCare program which is available to customers at more than 1,200 locations worldwide. The program includes precision-tailored service agreements, extended warranties, fast and reliable original-brand spare parts provision as well as remanufacturing to meet every customer´s needs.
