MTU Detroit Diesel UK Founded

London/Salfords - DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway has founded the new sales company MTU Detroit Diesel United Kingdom Ltd. (mtu DD UK) to provide marketing and service for DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway activities in Great Britain. The new company is responsible to an increased extent for the commercial applications Energy (especially stationary energy supply systems as well as gensets for oil and gas offshore drilling rigs), Rail (particularly drive systems for railcars), Industrial (including large-size excavators, pumps and compressors), for civil and military marine applications as well as for defense applications. The market regionally comprises Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The previous distributor Mitchell Diesel Ltd. will continue as sub-distributor to be responsible for product support and the sale of spare parts.

mtu DD UK has eight employees. The new company is headed by a Board of Directors with mtu Vice President Sales Peter Grosch and Dr. Andreas Kark from DaimlerChrysler UK Holding. The head of mtu DD UK is Gordon Burgess. At the official opening of the company, he stressed "that this new status as an independent company will enable us to focus even more on an integrated Off-Highway business potential leading to turnover growth."

As part of the founding of mtu DD UK, the company relocated its headquarters to Salfords and quadrupled the surface area of the company. Salfords is situated some 50 kilometers south of the center of London, between Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
