As a system supplier, the company supplies everything from a single source, from construction via product and customer support to global service. SAP's emergency power generation plant at St. Leon Rot consists of seven gensets each powered by a 20V 4000 engine. In emergencies, these mtu-units can generate around 16,900 kW to secure the facility's power supply.

For example, in addition to the power generator, consisting of the base engine, the generator and the base frame, mtu supplies complete systems with coordinated concepts. These include fuel supply systems, the battery system, the recooling system, the exhaust system, the shifting and controlling unit, the ventilation system and sound protection for the accessories compartment. These additional system components are tuned to each other by mtu, individually designed to the specifications profile and customer requirements and integrated into the total system.

Here, mtu performs all the relevant work. It plans the system, examines and works out installation variants, draws up the assembly plans, coordinates and monitors the installation, is responsible for its commissioning and performs the relevant inspections. The customer receives a complete system tailored to its requirements. A system that is optimally adapted to local conditions with the entire engineering system from a single source, thus achieving the peak of economic efficiency. For its system components, mtu only works with partners with years of experience and with high demands in terms of quality and safety.

mtu systems engineering ensures peak economic efficiency

Customized systems are used where standard components cannot be due to special requirements. This may mean adhering to a specific sound level, in which case the system has to be equipped with special sound protection measures. Or its use may require that the system does not exceed special emission figures (independently of conventional emission standards). When required, mtu engineers also plan and calculate chutes and monitor their installation.

Furthermore, the systems can be adjusted to the individual space requirements, to make optimal use of the available room. Thus, systems can be accommodated in top floors or in basements. There is also a wide range of accessories and alternative equipment, from which customers and mtu engineers can jointly select the necessary and optimum components.

Wide range of areas of deployment and application in the 900 to 3.200 kVA power output range

mtu's many years experience are particularly advantageous in highly sensitive or in particularly complex applications. Thus, power generators for standby and peak load supply are planned, designed specifically for their service in industry or also in clinics. On the other hand, rapid and no-break stand-by generator sets are required for particularly interruption-critical installations, such as for data processing centers or airport runway beaconing. Since the beginning of the sixties, mtu has been supplying standby generator sets and rapid stand-by sets to airports that today guarantee secure power supply at airports not just in Germany all over the world.

Customized systems may also be used in containers. The advantage for the customer is that the system is available for use more quickly. No local installation or inspection is required. When delivered, the system is examined and accepted and can commence operations immediately. In contrast to conventional, stationary systems, the container system is mobile, resulting in high flexibility for use in changing locations or temporary service, and allows the customer a longer period of service.
