Friedrichshafen, 13 May 2011. A chance to show what they can really do and to unveil their talent under the spotlight - that is what “Talent Night Tognum” is offering `People with Power´ on Saturday 23 July in Friedrichshafen. To mark the double centenary of the town of Friedrichshafen, Tognum, the specialist for propulsion and power solutions, is looking for People from the Lake Constance / Upper Swabia region who can put a face to the concept `Power´. Individuals or groups who believe that what they do personifies power, can enter by sending in their own videos. The ten best entries will appear at the “Talent Night Tognum” event to be held at Friedrichshafen’s `Musikmuschel´ open-air venue on the banks of Lake Constance on Saturday, 23 July. Joining the audience and jury at the event and the party afterwards will be RTL compere Daniel Hartwich and the band “Celebration”, who also appeared at the “100 Years of mtu“ centenary event.

The slogan “Tognum - Home of Power Brands” sets the tone for the Tognum Group’s contribution to Friedrichshafen’s double centenary celebrations. However the phrase may be interpreted, MTU Friedrichshafen’s parent company is looking for `the most power-packed people´ from the region. Power and powerful drive systems from mtu have made Tognum famous throughout the world. And that is no coincidence because Friedrichshafen is the home of power legends which have moved the world - from Count Zeppelin’s airships to aircrafts built by Claude Dornier - and which have been powered by engines built by Karl Maybach, the founder of the modern-day mtu. And the same still holds true today with mtu engines powering some of the biggest and heaviest machines in the world.

“All of that is pretty widely known already. But now we’re looking for people whose power is still waiting to be discovered,” said Matthias Jobmann, head of HR at the Tognum Group. And what is power? “We’re not setting any limits there. Anyone and everyone can enter. The important thing is that what they do somehow incorporates the concept of power. It doesn’t matter whether they can lift super-heavy weights or play a tune on the comb-and-paper at mega-volume,” said Jobmann.

Individuals or groups of up to ten people who think they have what it takes to convince the audience and the jury on Saturday, 23 July, can enter by submitting their own 2-3-minute self-made videos to Tognum AG before 30 June. Videos should include a demo of the `Power Number´ and should illustrate or describe the competitor’s links with Friedrichshafen. Anyone from the Lake Constance / Upper Swabia region can enter. The best and most unusual `Power Talents´ will then get to perform on `Power Day´, Saturday, 23 July at “Talent Night Tognum” which gets underway at 18:30h at the `Musikmuschel´ open-air venue on Friedrichshafen’s lakeside promenade. The winner will be decided by the audience and a 3-person jury consisting of Joachim Coers, deputy Chairman of the Executive Board at Tognum AG, Tognum employee Mona Sloane and head of Assembly at mtu, Dr Dirk Geisinger. Chairing “Talent Night Tognum” will be Daniel Hartwich who comperes the RTL shows “Das Supertalent” and “Let’s Dance”. Details of the rules for participants are available on the Internet at www.tognum.com. And the prize? A 3-day Mediterranean cruise on Tognum’s employee sailing yacht, including outward and return travel.

And, the choice of the winner at 19:30h will by no means mark the end of the story because the lakeside promenade will then be transformed into a party zone with music provided by the band `Celebration´ who scored a hit with participants at the “100 Years of mtu” festival in 2009.

“We are already looking forward to lots of power-packed entries, to a “Talent Night Tognum” which shows just what Friedrichshafen is made of and to a great party,” said Tognum head of HR, Matthias Jobmann.
