Friedrichshafen, November 22, 2012. As in previous years, the tenth staging of the mtu Indoor Cup on the weekend of December 8 and 9 promises all the aura of the Champions League at Friedrichshafen. Some of Europe's top clubs are taking part once again, including Manchester United, FC Barcelona, FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. VfB Friedrichshafen has organized this U15 tournament since 2003, with Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen on board as the main sponsor and name giver right from day one. The manufacturer of drive and propulsion systems supports the mtu Indoor Cup as part of its corporate social responsibility.

This two-day indoor tournament in the town on the banks of Lake Constance attracts the very best teams, fans in their droves and scouts on the lookout for up-and-coming talent. Many top players have taken part in the mtu Indoor Cup, among them current Bundesliga stars Thomas Müller, Holger Badstuber, David Alaba, Mario Götze and Marco Reus. Thomas Tuchel, now head coach at FSV Mainz 05, has also played in the indoor tournament.

"Congratulations to VfB Friedrichshafen for the tenth mtu Indoor Cup and to all those involved in this fabulous event," says Joachim Coers, Chairman of the Board of Management at Tognum. "As the main sponsor, we are proud to help make this regionally rooted but Europe-wide established event such a success, and to encourage young, talented people who pursue their goals with true dedication and team spirit," adds Coers. In addition to the mtu Indoor Cup, the Tognum subsidiary supports the “mtu Leistungszentrum” at VfB Friedrichshafen, a center of excellence which fosters young football talent drawn from the town and surrounding area. Alongside weekly training sessions at their home clubs, the young players receive additional coaching from a UEFA 'A' licensed trainer at the mtu Leistungszentrum. In previous mtu Indoor Cup tournaments, the players have proven a match for their counterparts from the bigger clubs, on occasion beating teams of the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

The following clubs are taking part in the 2012 mtu Indoor Cup: FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal London, FC Bayern Munich, FC Basel 1893, Borussia Dortmund, VfB Stuttgart, Eintracht Frankfurt, NK Dinamo Zagreb, Besiktas Istanbul, FSV Mainz 05, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, AKA Vorarlberg and Grashoppers Zürich. The regional youth teams participating are from the mtu-Leistungszentrum, VfB Friedrichshafen, TSG Ailingen, SG Kluftern/Immenstaad, SG Fischbach/Schnetzenhausen, VFL Brochenzell and TSV Meckenbeuren.

The mtu Indoor Cup is being held on the second weekend in December at Friedrichshafen's Bodenseesporthalle.
