FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, GERMANY / CANNES, FRANCE – The Rolls-Royce brand mtu will be presenting its propulsion and system solutions at the international yachting “Festival de la Plaisance” in Cannes from 9-14 September, 2014. Visitors will be able to discover the extensive portfolio of mtu at Stand JAS-025. An advanced Series 2000 M96 yacht engine which meets US emission stage EPA Tier 3 (for leisure craft) will be on view for the first time.

“The latest generation of Series 2000 engines stands out with optimized acceleration and low fuel consumption. The engine meets EPA Tier 3 emission limits using in-engine technology only and without having to resort to exhaust aftertreatment,” explains Dr. Michael Haidinger, Chief Sales Officer at Rolls-Royce Power Systems. This engine series generates up to 1,940 kW of power making it particularly suitable for high-performance yachts such as those used for big game fishing in the USA. Series 2000 engines already successfully power a number of vessels, for example the Sunseeker, Princess, Azimut Benetti, Ferretti and Pershing.

As experienced partner with vast engineering know-how, mtu delivers for these yachts drive systems and turnkey solutions from a single source. In addition to propulsion engines and gearboxes with power range of 261 to 4,300 kW the range also includes 5 to 280 kW gensets to supply on-board power, and emergency power generation units. All the additional components required for yacht automation are also available – ranging from propulsion plant monitoring and remote control systems to control levers, control units and instruments. The new joystick system which is available from the beginning of August 2015 will also be on show. Used in conjunction with the mtu Blue Vision New Generation automation system the joystick facilitates straightforward, intuitive maneuvering. Visitors will be able to control a virtual yacht with a fully-functional automation console at the mtu stand.

mtu offers fully-integrated E-Drive concepts starting with application-specific design, including the supply of perfectly-matched components, right through to support of the operational system.

The mtu ValueCare Premium Yacht Service package rounds off the portfolio with a comprehensive range of services tailored to meet the most demanding customer requirements. The package includes e.g. an EPC warranty (Extended Propulsion Coverage), annual inspections and professional training for customers and their partners. Other notable services are bespoke maintenance contracts and a fast, reliable supply of genuine quality spares and consumables – Around the World, Around the Clock.
