FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, GERMANY – The 12th mtu Indoor Cup tournament is again set to be a very special football event, with a mixture of top international teams and local clubs. The under-15s tournament will take place on 6 and 7 December in the ZF-arena in Friedrichshafen. Top teams such as Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Barcelona will be pitting their strength against local Lake Constance clubs such as the mtu Leistungszentrum (Centre of Excellence) team and VfB Friedrichshafen.   For the first time, tournament organizer VfB Friedrichshafen has even been able to enlist top Turkish club Galatasaray Istanbul, Dutch record-holder Ajax Amsterdam and Chelsea FC, the legendary London club. Rolls-Royce subsidiary mtu is the main sponsor of the U15s tournament.   

The mtu Indoor Cup is one of Europe's major under-15s tournaments. Apart from renowned football clubs and droves of spectators, talent scouts from all over Europe are also drawn to the football event on Lake Constance. "We are proud of the excellent reputation of this event across Europe. The mtu Indoor Cup is one of the forums where international football stars such as Mario Götze, Thomas Müller, David Alaba, Julian Draxler and Marco Reus displayed their potential as young players. In 2007, for example, Julian Draxler won the best goalkeeper trophy," said Klaus Segelbacher, who has been responsible for organizing the event since its inception.   

Another long-standing contributor has been mtu. "Over the years, the mtu Indoor Cup has grown into one of the year's highlights at our main location, and it is a great pleasure for us to be one of the many who support VfB Friedrichshafen in staging this unique event on Lake Constance," said Dr Ulrich Dohle, CEO of Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG and head of the board of management at MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH.
