SINGAPORE – Rolls-Royce and mtu are jointly showcasing part of their extensive portfolio of marine products and service solutions at Sea Asia 2015 in Singapore, one of the most anticipated maritime events in the region.

It is the first time that the Rolls-Royce and mtu brands and products will be publicly united for maritime customers since Rolls-Royce acquired mtu last year. The mtu brand is part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems within the Land & Sea division of Rolls-Royce.

The booth is located at B2-J21 at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands Singapore from April 21 to 23, 2015.

Representatives will be available to provide customers with information about the full suite of capabilities including the latest integrated ship design and systems, medium and high-speed engines and flexible propulsion systems such as the E-Drive system, which is a combination of a diesel engine with an electric motor, and proven LNG systems delivered to Tug, Offshore and Cargo vessels.

“Our objective is to showcase the capabilities most relevant to the market needs which, in the current challenging climate, are reliable and competitive solutions that address both economic and environmental targets. Sea Asia attracts much attention from our customers and suppliers, and so it is significant that we are able to present our combined strengths across the full customer life-cycle”, said Richard Bowcutt, Rolls-Royce, Senior Vice President, Commercial Marine – Asia Pacific.

“The widespread use and popularity of our marine products and solutions are based above all on the tried and tested performance, reliability, long service lives and cost-effectiveness of our engines. As service providers, we ensure professional and comprehensive product and customer service,” said Mr. Alex Tesch, Director Sales Marine at MTU Asia.

Featured at the booth will be a Rolls-Royce Dynamic Positioning (DP) Simulator and a Rolls-Royce UT 771 WP Ship Model. mtu is displaying a 20V 4000M93 diesel engine with E-Drive System scaled model. In addition, show attendees will be able to explore Rolls-Royce and mtu’s extensive range of ship designs, systems solutions, product information and other available technologies through interactive platforms.

The DP Simulator with 40” LCD TV from Rolls-Royce provides a tool for operator training and familiarisation. It can also be used for maintenance exercises where online fault finding or signal logging is needed. The built-in simulator generates realistic inputs to the DP control system. This comprises of dynamic models of thrusters, propellers, rudders, the power system, a six degrees of freedom vessel model, environmental loads due to waves, wind and current sensor and position reference system models.

The Rolls-Royce UT771 WP is a medium-sized platform supply vessel, which undertakes supply duties between land bases and offshore installations. The model is specially designed for medium to long passages between its destinations.   It has an optimized hull form that delivers excellent sea-keeping and maintains high speeds under rough weather conditions and large cargo capacities. The model is designed for diesel electric medium- or high-speed machinery and Azipull propulsion system.

In addition, the mtu 20V 4000 M93 with E-Drive Systems offers an advantageous combination of a diesel engine with an electric motor to reduce emissions and fuel consumption while improving drive performance and comfort level. mtu designs and supplies customer-specific E-Drive systems based on Series 2000 and Series 4000 engines to better match the varying power demand of the vessel. Both diesel-mechanical and diesel-electric propulsion configurations are possible.
