26 apprentices successfully completed their vocational training at Rolls-Royce Power Systems in Friedrichshafen this summer. 24 were given permanent employment contracts and are now starting their careers in their specialist areas. Johannes Höltge, a construction mechanic, received the prize of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Bodensee-Oberschwaben for his particularly good performance.
"This year's graduates can look back on a particularly challenging time: Due to the corona pandemic, it was uncertain for a long time whether they would be able to complete their exams by the summer. Some exam dates were postponed, at times theory lessons could not be held and group learning had to be largely dispensed with," explains Martin Stocker, head of mtu training at Rolls-Royce in Friedrichshafen. "It is all the more impressive that, despite this exceptional situation, the graduates were able to complete their training at the desired time.
Of the 26 graduates, 22 had opted for technical training, including eleven industrial mechanics, five metal technology specialists, three mechatronics engineers, one construction mechanic, one electronics engineer for automation technology and one technical production designer. Four trainees completed a commercial apprenticeship, including two specialist warehouse clerks and two specialists for warehouse logistics.
"Especially in difficult times, it is important to give young people a perspective. We are now pleased to welcome the graduates as an integral part of our company and wish them all the best for their start in their careers," says Thomas Bittelmeyer, Chairman of the Works Council at Power Systems.
The Power Systems Division of Rolls-Royce also trains young people at other company locations. In Ruhstorf (Bavaria), an industrial clerk and a specialist for warehouse logistics have successfully completed their training. At the US location in Aiken, a new phase in the lives of four trainees is beginning - at the beginning of August they completed their training as metalworking specialists.
Young people who are interested in an apprenticeship or a dual course of study at Rolls-Royce can take advantage of the holiday period and apply now via the applicant portal of Rolls-Royce Power Systems. Interested parties can inform themselves about the various training occupations and courses of study on the company website www.mtu-solutions.com and upload their application. The trainee Instagram channel RRPS_Training provides first impressions.
