SED in Milton Keynes: DaimlerChrysler's Off-Highway unit presents innovative engines

At SED 2002 from May 14 until 16, 2002, DaimlerChrysler's Off-Highway unit is showing some of the most respected engines in the industry.
Milton Keynes - At SED 2002 from May 14 until 16, 2002, DaimlerChrysler's Off-Highway unit is showing some of the most respected engines in the industry. Making its debut at this SED is the 450Hp in-line 6-cylinder 12 liter OM457LA engine, which is already installed in advanced cranes. Also on view is the OM904LA 4-cylinder, 4.25 liter 174 Hp engine, the benchmark in the industry and the well known Detroit Diesel Series 60 (500Hp) engine which is widely favored by the earth moving industry. All DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway engines have full electronic engine management, long service intervals and the backing of specialist service dealers.
DaimlerChrysler's Off-Highway unit provides diesel engines for Construction & Industrial, Mining, Agriculture, Power Generation, Marine, Rail and Defense applications in a power range from 20 kW to 9.000 kW. After DaimlerChrysler AG took over the U.S. engine manufacturer Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) in 2000, the group focused its off-highway activities in the product unit "DaimlerChrysler Powersystems Off-Highway".
MTU Friedrichshafen, which has belonged to DaimlerChrysler for over 30 years, is leading this product unit. As the name implies, this business addresses those application segments that are used off-highway. For industrial applications shown at SED, DaimlerChrysler's Off-Highway engines range from 34 kW to 1000 kW. They power an increasing number of market leading construction industry machines including compressors, dump trucks, mobile cranes, specialist cranes, earthmovers, road planers and others.
