In October 1998, he was appointed as a member of the Board of Management of Deutz AG, a position he held until late 2000, before taking up duties as a consultant to Deutz until October 2001.
From November 2001 until February 2002, Rainer Breidenbach advanced the re-orientation of the Eder Holding AG in Munich before being appointed as Managing Director of Polaris GmbH in the summer of 2002.
