Tognum subsidiary L’Orange GmbH today celebrates the production of its 500,000th injector.
- Record-breaking injectors reflect outstanding success of injection as a key technology
- Significant factor in reducing emissions and fuel consumption
Stuttgart/Glatten, 23 July 2010. Tognum subsidiary L’Orange GmbH today celebrates the production of its 500,000th injector. The event marks the achievement of a new record by the manufacturer of high-pressure injection systems for diesel and heavy-oil engines.
Electronically-controlled injection technology is a major element in the achievement of low-emission, low-consumption diesel engines. “Against the background of ever more stringent emissions legislation, injection is of enormous strategic significance for engine manufacturers,” explained L’Orange CEO Dr. Ralph-Michael Schmidt. The electronic control system facilitates the optimum balance of injection pressure, timing and sequence.
L’Orange has been manufacturing common rail injectors for off-highway applications in high-volume series production since 1996 and the record-breaking injector being celebrated today is used in mtu Series 4000 engines.
In response to the high levels of demand for L’Orange injectors, the company mobilized investment in production capacity at its Glatten location where a new hall built specially for injector production was opened in May 2009. And this is where production workers celebrated the 500,000th injector today. A few days earlier, CEO Schmidt presented the record-breaking injector to Dr. Ulrich Dohle, Tognum Executive Board member for Technology & Operations with responsibility for L’Orange GmbH.
