150 New Apprentices Start at Tognum

150 young people are embarking on training programs or courses of dual study at Tognum.
- 108 apprentices in Friedrichshafen, 20 at German subsidiaries and 22 at international locations
Friedrichshafen, September 2, 2013. 150 young people are embarking on training programs or courses of dual study at Tognum. For the first time, these include trainees from the new Tognum location in Bergen, Norway. “Our new trainees represent an investment in the future of our company and the places we have on offer provide very attractive opportunities for those just starting out on their careers,” said Ingo Metzer, head of HR at Tognum.
Training at HQ in Friedrichshafen
A total of 108 young people are starting courses at Tognum HQ in Friedrichshafen with 75 young men and 33 young women undertaking training in eleven vocational areas. The industrial mechanics make up the largest vocational group with 34 new apprentices and for the first time Tognum will also be training six apprentices for the new vocational category `Metal Technology Specialist´. This is a two-year course specifically designed for assembly technicians. 33 students will be taking courses of dual study at Tognum in Friedrichshafen with the majority (13 students) studying for a `Bachelor of Engineering´ qualification.
Training at other locations in Germany
14 apprentices are starting training courses as industrial mechanics with injection specialist L’Orange in Glatten (Black Forest). Two young women are embarking on courses as industrial management assistants with mtu Onsite Energy in Augsburg. At the beginning of August, two female apprentices began industrial management assistant and Euro management assistant courses at mtu Onsite Energy Systems in Ruhstorf where a further apprentice also started a course as an industrial management assistant with a specialism in foreign languages. MTU Reman Technologies in Magdeburg is also running an industrial mechanic course for one apprentice.
Training at Tognum locations abroad
At Bergen Engines in Norway, Tognum has been training 16 young people in technical trades since mid-August and Tognum America´s Aiken location is running industrial mechanic courses for six apprentices.
