Emissions Forecast
Increasingly strict emissions limits mean the ideal “zero emissions” target for diesel engines is fast approaching. Over the course of the last 19 years, EU emissions stages have been tightened four times, while EPA Tier regulations have been created to govern industrial engines. EU Stage V amounts to a cut of more than 94% in recommended nitrogen oxide levels. And at 97.8%, suggested reductions in soot particulate emissions have been greater still.
Emissions Certificates
mtu diesel engines are able to meet the widest range of exhaust emissions requirements (up to EU Stage V) thanks to our optimized combustion and cooled exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR). EGR is supported by an efficient and well-balanced exhaust aftertreatment system, consisting of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and diesel particulate filter (DPF) technology. Our combined system has also enabled us to comply with other global emissions standards including those in North America, China, Japan and Korea.

A combined “all-in-one” package for exhaust gas aftertreatment with SCR, a DPF and an integrated dosing unit provides proven product features for profitable use at the same time as meeting the emissions limits for EU Stage V.
