  • Record year for mtu series 2000 in the American market
  • Fort Lauderdale Boat Show as stage for mtu success model and "From Bridge to Propeller" strategy

Rolls-Royce strengthens its position in the U.S. sportfishing and yacht markets. "We are on the verge of breaking the 300,000 hp mark in power delivered this year with our mtu series 2000 M96 engine, with builders utilizing our 10V, 12V and 16V cylinder variants. The 300,000 hp is spread over about 130 engines," said Andrew Boyer, senior sales manager yacht for America in occasion of the Fort Lauderdale international Boat Show. Rolls-Royce is the market leader in the U.S. sportfishing business with its mtu series 2000 engines. "Performance and reliability have impressed our customers for many years and have led to this record result," Boyer added.

The U.S. market, and with it the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, is also of particular importance to Rolls-Royce's Power Systems division even beyond its extremely strong success in the high performance sportfishing boat market. "In addition, we are equipping some larger motor yachts made in the USA with the mtu 16V2000M97L with SCR exhaust aftertreatment, which meets both EPA T3R and IMO III emissions regulations," Boyer reported.

Rolls-Royce's Power Systems division will not only exhibit its successful model, the mtu 16V2000M96L, in Fort Lauderdale from October 25 to 29, but will also provide an overview of its automation solutions for yachts, the mtu NautIQ Blue Vision NewGeneration yacht automation system and the debut of the mtu NautIQ Bridge. The latter is contributed by the recently acquired subsidiary Team Italia Marine, a specialist in integrated automation and navigation for large yachts. In Fort Lauderdale, the bridge symbolizes the "From Bridge to Propeller" strategy, with which Rolls-Royce offers yacht manufacturers integrated solutions for the entire drive train, navigation and for shipside automation.

"Many customers of European yacht yards come from America," said Denise Kurtulus, Vice President Global Marine at Rolls-Royces Power Systems business unit. That's why we want to explain our portfolio to American customers in Fort Lauderdale, which can be found in many large series as well as superyachts from European production for the American yacht market," she explained.
