  • Transferrable extended warranty protects vessel value and owner investment
  • Extended Time Before Overhaul (TBO) increases time-on-water with longer maintenance intervals and decreased downtime

In conjunction with the opening of the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, Rolls-Royce today announced new lifetime service support options for its Series 2000 M96 high-performance marine recreational engines that will provide up to 18 years of extended warranty coverage and 12,000 hours before overhaul for its new and existing recreational marine engines.

Based on the engine type and whether it is new or already installed in a vessel, the new service offerings are tailored to provide worry-free operation for the life of the engine – up to 18 years.

Series 2000 M96Z engines

With 2222 hp the new M96Z has the highest horsepower in its class, now backed by the longest Extended Coverage warranty protection in its class with up to 18 years from the initial in-service date. The Extended Coverage is also transferrable, giving owners peace of mind and enhanced resale value.

New vessels built with eligible 10-, 12- or 16V configurations of the mtu Series 2000 M96, M96L or M96X engines are now also able to receive the Extended Coverage up to 18 years and a new maintenance schedule, extending Time Before Overhaul (TBO) up to a maximum of 12,000 hours, depending on load profile.

In-service Series 2000 M96 engines

Vessel owners already running proven Series 2000 M96, M96L or M96X engines can also benefit from the TBO extension and extended warranty terms. Through a new Lifetime Extension program, these engines can undergo a midlife service event that requalifies them for further TBO and lengthens the Extended Coverage eligibility period.

Magdalena Peters, Head of Marine Sales - Americas, Rolls-Royce, said:

“Our customers expect outstanding performance from their mtu engines and world-class support throughout their ownership experience. With our new extended TBOs and warranty offerings, they are getting industry-leading support that also protects the resale value of their investment.

These new offerings demonstrate Rolls-Royce’s strategic focus on service and ensuring we are best-in-class. We’re helping owners plan ahead and protect their investment – not only while they own it, but if they decide to sell.

The ability to transfer the coverage means the benefits can continue when the vessel passes to its next owner – and that it is fully backed by Rolls-Royce.’

The mtu Series 2000 M96 family of high-performance marine engines, available in V-configurations of 10, 12 and 16 cylinders, powers luxury yachts, sportfishing vessels, patrol boats and fast commercial craft.

The new EC offering reinforces Rolls-Royce’s commitment to providing service support and 24/7 technical assistance via its global network for customers around the world, as it supports eligible engines with genuine mtu parts, technical expertise and service.

Whether a vessel accumulates operating hours quickly or operates seasonally, owners can work with their authorized mtu distributor to review engine operating hours, service history, applicable TBO and available EC options within the 18-year maximum.
