Trade show highlights on the Mediterranean

In Cannes and Monaco, many yacht innovations will be lined up in September. It's all about design, size and propulsion. We feature some yachts with mtu engines.

When everything revolves around striking lines, extraordinary design and extravagant
solutions, it's trade show time on the Mediterranean. The "who's who" of the yacht scene - shipyards, designers and component manufacturers - meet to see new trends, the most beautiful yachts and the most unusual features. But it's not only the looks that matter, the inner qualities count too. Especially new technologies and sustainable solutions for propulsion are becoming more and
more important.

With its mtu brand, Rolls-Royce is a long-standing partner of many shipyards and yacht
owners. The engines of the Series 2000 and 4000 power yachts around the world. For 25 years, the engines developed especially for marine applications have proven themselves in the field. They are reliable, powerful, efficient and getting cleaner every year. New solutions, such as operation with
climate-neutral fuels, will ensure that mtu engines will continue to power yachts in the future.

Fast luxury cruiser

The latest generation of the 12-cylinder engine of the Series 2000 M96 with over 2000 hp powers
the new OTAM 70HT. The Italian shipyard OTAM is presenting a custom-made yacht in Cannes that, according to the manufacturer, is inspired by the world of aviation and sports cars. What makes the boat sporty are the numerous air intakes hidden behind shiny black grilles and decorated with LEDs, for example at the level of the radar structure for ventilation of the engine compartment. There, two 12V 2000 M96 mtu engines from Friedrichshafen provide the necessary thrust to make the 22.3-metre-long yacht zoom across the water at a maximum of 50 knots.

Yachting pleasure from Ferretti

Ferretti is showing the Pershing 8X yacht in Cannes. It has two elegantly silver-painted
16V 2000 M96 engines from mtu with a combined output of 2435 hp inside. They let the 8X cruise the sea at a top speed of 45 knots and a cruising speed of 38 knots. Built from carbon fibre to be lighter and faster, Ferretti's Pershing 8X yacht has sleek, sporty lines that are accentuated by classic Pershing features such as the impressive side wings and aerodynamic profile of the 15 square
metre sundeck. The yacht is also available with a higher output of 2638 hp using the powerful 16V 2000 M96L engines. These then enable a top speed of over 48 knots and a cruising speed of 41 knots.

In addition to the Pershing 8X, Ferretti will also be presenting two award winners at the
shows: Boat International recently announced the 2021 Design & Innovation Awards. The Pershing yacht "Touch Me" received the prize in the category "Best Naval Architecture, Semi Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts". The best new series comes from Riva with the 88' Folgore! Touch Me is powered by four 16V 2000 M96L mtu engines (2600 hp each) and reaches a top speed of 38 knots, the Riva 88' Folgore has two 16V 2000 M96 mtu engines with 2435 hp each on board.

Trendsetter Series 4000

25 years ago, the Series 4000 was the first engine with common rail injection, which makes combustion cleaner and more efficient. Today, the process is still an important part of making engines as clean as possible.

First Turkish yacht with IMO III propulsion system

In Monaco, the Turkish shipyard Bilgin will present its new flagship, the yacht Tatiana. She was one of the first yachts with mtu engines having the highest and reliable technology to meet the IMO III guidelines. Powered by the mtu series 4000 M03, 2560 kW, with a specially tuned SCR system, the two 16-cylinder engines accelerate to a top speed of 19 knots. Unique Yacht Design and H2 Yacht Design gave the first unit of Bilgin 263 series sharp edges on the exterior and a modern interior. The yacht is 80 meters long and 12.20 meters wide. She offers space for an owner's deck suite, three VIP staterooms, and four additional cabins for guests.

Comfortable long-range yacht

Overmarine is showing the new Mangusta Oceano 50 in Monaco, powered by twin mtu 12V 2000
M86 engines that give a top speed of 16 knots and a range of 4,500 nautical miles at 11 knots. She is the tenth steel-hulled yacht in five years. The interior of the Oceano 50 consists of five guest cabins. A special feature: the tender garage can be filled with water to create a swimming pool with
counter-current system.

Tatiana is the first yacht with mtu engines having the highest and reliable technology to meet the IMO III guidelines.
