The Barceló Riviera Maya hotel can rely on its power supply

Posted on June 24, 2021 by Julia Rieß

The engineering firm Sampol selected Rolls-Royce to deliver three 20-cylinder mtu Series 4000 diesel gensets to the Barceló hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico, to get it prepared in the event of a power outage.
Riviera Maya, Mexico
Your hotel room is swelteringly hot, there's no power for charging your cell phone, and, worst of all, the beer is tepid. It's not a scenario any of us would fancy, particularly not on vacation, when all you wish for is a carefree environment to relax and recuperate in. In hotels in Mexico, however, air-conditioning, TV and a bedside lamp are creature comforts that tourists and other hotel guests cannot take for granted round-the-clock. In Mexico, fluctuations in the electrical supply are frequent, and complete power outages lasting several hours the norm.

But since delivery of Rolls-Royce's mtu-brand emergency electrical gensets, that's not something guests staying in the Barceló hotel on the Yucatan peninsula have to worry about. EPC Sampol, a Rolls-Royce distributor, supplied a turnkey plant, installing three mtu-brand 20-cylinder 4000 DS3100 generator sets.

mtu emergency generators provide power for the hotel when the public power grid fails.

Supplied as open units, they boast outstanding efficiency and quality as well as low costs for maintenance and spare parts. Equally indispensable for operation in a hotel – they are equipped with sound silencers to ensure quietness for both staff and guests.

All in all, the hotel can rely on a basic power supply for the benefit of customers, who can now rest assured that even if the public power grid falters – the hotel refrigerators will stay cold.
